The famous Shades of the Past Rod Run is returning to Pigeon Forge TN for its 37th year September 6-7 2019. This Pigeon Forge car show is one of the biggest car shows the city hosts each year around Labor Day. Spectators will be able to enjoy more than 200 rods, classics, and customs through 1972. Participants will compete for grand prizes of a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster and a $10,000 cash prize. This car show is one of the most popular things to do in Pigeon Forge in September, because of its size, competitiveness, and location!

This year’s Shades of the Past will be hosted at Dollywood’s Splash Country. The waterpark’s season ends on Labor Day, making the empty lot the perfect place to host the car show. If you’re unsure of how to get to Dollywood Splash Country, just put this address into your phone’s GPS: 1198 McCarter Hollow Rd. Pigeon Forge, TN 37862.

Cost, Accessibility, and Other Things to Know for Shades of the Past

The cost for the car show is only $10 per person each day. Children under 12 able can enter for free. There will be indoor restrooms available for spectators throughout the event as well. At Gate #2, spectators with mobility problems can rent event scooters to use while traversing the show. Remember though, only recognized single occupant handicap contrivances (motorized or non-motorized) will be allowed at the event site, so leave hose motorized coolers at home. Another reason to leave those coolers behind, there are no alcoholic beverages allowed at the event.

Parking Information for Shades of the Past

The event has organized parking for spectators at three different locations:

1. You can park for free at the Pigeon Forge municipal parking lot located on Teaster Ln. Trolleys to and from spectator entrance will be running during show hours for only 50 cents per person each way

2. For $15 per car / per day you can also park at Dollywood Lot. Trams will take you from this parking location to the spectator entrance for no charge during the show. Additional fees will be charged for larger vehicles and trailers.

3. If the free parking locations are full, and you don’t want to pay to park, consider parking at the Patriot Park municipal parking lot. This parking lot is the HQ for the Fun Time Trolley System, so you can just catch a trolley to the show site!

Hundreds of classic rods will participate  in this Pigeon Forge car show. The volume of cars and awesome prizes make it one of the most competitive around. The grand prizes for the competition include a 1932 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster and a $10,000 cash prize! You can register your vehicle online here at the Shades of the Past website. It only costs $60 for registration! Also, the first 2,500 participants will receive free event steins and dash plaques!

You can also register onsite on Thursday from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Saturday 8:00 am until 3:30 pm. In addition to the grand prizes, the show will be awarding winners in several categories, including Street Rod of the Year, Street Machine of the Year, Street Cruiser of the Year, and many more. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony starting at 4:30 pm sharp – you must be present at the awards ceremony to win!
