Getting Around Town

A common question most travelers to the area have is, how to avoid traffic on the parkway during these weekend events? Although golf carts are the best way to maneuver around the high traffic volume areas, there are a few requirements in places to operate these vehicles.

All golf carts being driven on sidewalks, parking lots, and on the parkways are required to have safety equipment such as:

  • Head, tail, stop, and front and rear turn signal lamps
  • Reflectors- red on each side near the rear and also one red on the back of the cart.
  • Parking brake
  • Driver’s side exterior mirror, and either an interior mirror or exterior mirror on passenger side
  • Non- plexiglass windshield
  • Seat belts
  • VIN number

Rentals are always available in Pigeon Forge for your convenience. All rentals are certified to be used on the parkway, sidewalks, parking lots, etc. If you’re looking for golf carts or scooter rentals be sure to check out these options!

Cart Rentals

Convenience and style make getting around Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg with ease during the busiest weekends in town. They offer low speed vehicles with 4 seat and 6 seat options from the best manufacturer in the business E-Z-Go.

Scooter Sales and Rentals

Reserve scooters, wheelchairs, and strollers for your smoky mountain travels. Be sure to note special event pricing for the upcoming car show dates:

Sep 6 – 8 and Sept 13 – 15

$75/Day or $18/Hr or 3- day rental for $200

Reservations for 3 day rentals only during special events (call 865-366-3306)

Online Reservation system will be unavailable from Sept 1-15

Reserve your scooters and strollers here

Avoid The Parkway!

The main parkway that runs straight through Pigeon Forge is always pretty busy and car show weekends amplify this times 100! A few tips would be to take an alternate route/ road to get to either Dollywood’s Splash Country or The LeConte Center for these events.  Rather than taking the parkway, try hopping on Teaster Lane and Veterans Boulevard. Both of these roads connect and run parallel to the parkway to save you from the many traffic lights and other drivers!

If you’re staying in a hotel close to the event location, try walking the parkway! The walk is flat and allows you to either walk along the parkway or take a detour to the greenway for more scenic views! Enjoy walking by all shops, attractions, and restaurants without getting stuck in all the heavy traffic!

2. Crave Golf Club

Have your outdoor activities been hindered by a rainy day? Why not spend the day putting around the sweetest indoor course at  Crave Golf Club? Enjoy all that Crave has to offer with their 18,000 sq. ft indoor course with 19 holes!

3. Ripley’s Aquarium

When it’s storming outside, you can still have an amazing indoor adventure with Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. You and your family will get to see creatures of the deep up close and personal as you transverse the extensive aquarium. Exhibits cover all types of amazing sea creatures, as you explore the Tropical Rainforest, the Ocean Realm, the Coral Reef, and the Gallery of the Seas.

For instance, you can marvel at 12 foot sharks and giant sea turtles as you glide through the underwater tunnel at Shark’s Lagoon. Ripley’s was also voted one of the best places in the world to see penguins by USA Today, for good reason; you can get an up-close-and-personal view of all the Ripley penguins at Penguin Playhouse! During the summer you can also check out their famous Mermaid Show, which airs every day at 12:00, 2:00, and 4:00 pm in the coral reef exhibit.

You can enjoy tons of interactive elements like feeding shows in Coral Reef, petting stingrays in Sting Ray Bay, or touching a live jellyfish! Also, don’t miss out on their brand new Shipwrecks exhibit!

One of the most recent (and exciting) additions to the aquarium is the multi-story playground added to Exploration Bay! Your kids are guaranteed to have lots of fun exploring the playground in all its glory. You can check out an inside peak to the playground in our Facebook video below!

4. Museum Attractions

When it’s raining, museum attractions are some of the best adventures Pigeon Forge has to offer. Our museum attractions aren’t your typical dusty repository of information. They make learning fun with interactive exhibits and creative mind stimulating subjects. Whether its immersing yourself in the past, exploring the breadth of scientific discovery, or just having a lot of fun, there’s a museum attraction for you and your family! Here’s a few to look into:

Alcatraz East Crime Museum

Alcatraz East Crime Museum is a newer museum attraction in Pigeon Forge, and it is already making an impact. The museum features artifacts and exhibits exploring the history of crime in the United States. You’ll see artifacts like the White Brono O.J. Simpson used to flee from police, Al Capone’s machine gun, and so much more! Interactive exhibits showcase things like the CSI process or the inside of a 19th century jail cell. Titanic Museum

History enthusiasts will love stepping back in time with this amazing museum attraction. Built as a replica of the original Titanic, you’ll have the opportunity to see what life on the famous ship was like first-hand. From sitting on a bunk of a third-class passenger, to checking out some of the more than 400 exclusive artifacts, to seeing the ever-growing iceberg found inside, this is a perfect adventure through time. Although you’ll escape the rain, you get the chance to feel the icy waters first hand! How long can you keep your hand submerged?

When visitors step inside the ship, they’ll receive a boarding pass that represents an actual passenger of the ship! As visitors transverse the museum, they’ll have the chance to discover if their passenger was able to survive the tragedy.

The ship is always changing and displaying new exhibits and artifacts. Be sure to check out the wedding dress display full of dresses designed by Lucy, Lady Duff-Gordon.

Wonderworks is an amazing indoor adventure on any day, but especially when the weather isn’t cooperating with you and your family’s plans. Inside, visitors will learn about natural disasters, physics and engineering, light and sound, space, and so much more through more than 100 interactive and engaging exhibits.

One of the best parts of Wonderworks is the sheer number of activities visitors can enjoy. You can try out their four-story, glow-in-the-dark indoor ropes course, overcoming 50 obstacles while you climb four stories. You can also challenge your friends and family in Wonderworks’ laser-tag arena or the video arcade area. Get ready to celebrate with many musical groups and talented performers that will fill the streets. The theaters in town will be open every night ready to entertain with singing, dancing, acting, and so much more!

The parade will take place May 4th, 2018 starting at 6:00 pm on the Parkway near traffic light #6, concluding towards traffic light #3. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the temporary traffic pattern in which all traffic will be diverted to the southbound lanes starting at 4:15 pm. With over 100 parade participants, it is expected to last around two hours. A few road closings to be aware of: River Road will close at 2:30 pm. Free parking is available at the LeConte Center Municipal Lot and Patriot Park.

With all the excitement buzzing in the air, there is also a bit of sadness with the news of Dolly  stepping down as the Grand Marshal. However, the city is proud to announce this year’s Grand Marshal: Cal Ripken Jr. Holding many records, being apart of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and opening the multi- million dollar Ripken Experience baseball complex here in Pigeon Fore, Tennessee, Cal Ripken Jr sure has made an impact on our beloved city.

After opening it’s doors in Spring of 2016, The Ripken Experience has held numerous tournaments, camps, training workshops, and development training for players and coaches. The county has seen so much growth with the impact these events have on Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Gatlinburg. The events in store for 2018 will surpass previous years with many teams coming from all over the nation including: California, New York, Illinois, Louisiana, Florida, etc. The Ripken Experience is excited to announce the presence of international teams as well including Puerto Rico! Summer of 2018 is expected to be the busiest season yet with over 350 teams registered so far. Most tournaments take place over the course of a week which brings so much business to the area for hotels, cabins, restaurants, and of course, all of the exciting attractions!

We are so excited to welcome Music in the Mountain’s Grand Marshal: Cal Ripken Jr to Pigeon Forge to help kick off the season!

With all of the amazing cars lining the Parkway, it’s easy to understand why traffic can be a little congested. If you are looking to travel Pigeon Forge while skipping some congestion, there are several road options that can help you do that.

Veterans Blvd.

One key road to travel from Sevierville into Pigeon Forge is by using Veterans Blvd. Travelling from the interstate, you can access Veteran’s Blvd. by taking a left onto Main Street right after crossing the river. From there you can turn onto Veterans Blvd. directly after passing the Taco Bell and KFC. This road will take you parallel to the Parkway and will drop you off right in the heart of Pigeon Forge.

Taking Veterans Blvd. helps skip Rod Run traffic

Teaster Ln.

Another road that can help you skip some traffic while travelling through Pigeon Forge is Teaster Ln. You can turn onto Teaster on the corner where you can find the Biblical Times Dinner Theater. This road also runs parallel to the Parkway. You can also directly connect to the LeConte Center from Teaster, as opposed to entering the Island from the Parkway. If you do take Teaster, be sure to stop in at some of the awesome shops along the road!

River Rd.

If you’re looking for a fast way to get from Veterans Blvd. to the Old Mill, or you just want to skip some of the traffic deeper into Pigeon Forge, you can take River Road. A Note About Using Golf Carts During Rod Run

We have received several calls from visitors asking about golf carts during Rod Run, specifically two questions. First, where can you rent a golf cart in Sevier County, and second, what are the municipal rules for golf carts in Sevier County? Despite working very hard to find a vendor, we currently do not have a member as part of the Chamber that offers street-legal golf cart rentals. If you know of a business that does please let us know on our Facebook page. As for municipal rules: golf carts are not legal on the sidewalks.  Golf carts must be street legal to be on the roads (lights, seat belts, registered, insured, and tagged just like a car). For questions about the use of golf carts in the city of Pigeon Forge, please visit

7 Reasons to Celebrate the 4th of July at Pigeon Forge’s Patriot Festival

Wednesday, June 29th, 2016

America’s birthday is right around the corner, and Pigeon Forge is bringing you the ultimate Independence Day celebration with its annual Patriot Festival, happening Monday, July 4th. This extremely popular annual festival combines all your favorite 4th festivities into one huge all-day event.

To help you get the most out of this awesome event, we’ve broken down the top 7 reasons you and your family will love the annual Pigeon Forge Patriot Festival.

1. It’s Free to Attend!

The Patriot Festival in Pigeon Forge is totally free to attend!

Coming out to Patriot Park to enjoy the Festival won’t cost you a dime, unless you opt to check out some of the on-site food vendors. That means you and your family won’t have to stress about additional costs while you’re out enjoying this event. Although you won’t be able to park at Patriot Park during the event, the city is offering free event parking at the LeConte Center Municipal Lot, coupled with a free shuttle from the lot to the park. The shuttle will run approximately every 15 to 20 minutes, starting at noon and running until the end of the event. If you’re handicapped, don’t worry about parking at LeConte, as there will be limited free handicapped parking available at Patriot Park.

2. The Venue – Patriot Park

If you’ve never been to Patriot Park, you will love this hidden gem, located adjacent to the Old Mill District. This beautiful city park is especially dedicated to veterans from Sevier County that served during wartime. Definitely an appropriate spot for an Independence Day celebration! Taking a stroll around the walking track that surrounds the park will give you a chance to see the flags from the 50 states and the branches of the armed forces. Also, don’t miss out on checking out the centerpiece of the park, a Patriot Missile, which was made famous during the first Gulf War. The park is also the central hub to the Fun Time Trolley, which brings visitors to all of their favorite attractions around town.

When you’re heading down to the festival to enjoy the park, feel free to bring blankets or lawn chairs to relax. But, be sure to leave the coolers, umbrellas, and pop-up tents at home, as they’re prohibited at the event.

3. Salute and Celebrate Veterans

The Annual Patriot Festival will include a salute to veterans. An Old marine salutes during a ceremony

Pigeon Forge is well known for celebrating and honoring the men and women that defend our country, and this event is no different. Patriot Festival is kicked off with a special Veteran’s Salute, in which we will honor all the men and women who bravely defend our country.

Once they’re up and running, you’ll be able to enjoy all kids of yummy food, from BBQ to ice cream and more. Best of all, the food vendors for the event are all local nonprofits, so buying food at the event goes directly to supporting the people of Sevier County!

5. Free Kid’s Karnival

There will be a Kids Karnival at the Patriot Festival

The Patriot Festival is perfect for all ages, but the totally free Kid’s Karnival is definitely a perk for parents.
