GasBuddy– iOS/ Android-GasBuddy is a must have for any road trip. The app helps you conserve gas and gives you up to date gas prices at gas stations where you currently are. You can even search the city you are traveling to and find the cheapest gas there.
Waze– iOS/ Android -You may have a GPS, but your GPS doesn’t do this. Waze is an open source GPS system. Other users give updated information on traffic, accidents, construction and even where police are patrolling. You can easily report what’s happening on the road and get turn-by-turn navigation that automatically re-routes you when road conditions change.
Parkdroid– iOS/ Android– A new city, big parking lots, it’s easy to forget where you parked. Not with Parkdroid. This app lets you drop a location pin where you parked, then once you are done shopping or exploring, the app will navigate you back to your car. (This will also come in handy when you’re Christmas shopping. I always lose my car at the mall.)
Yelp– iOS/ Android -Perhaps the most helpful app when traveling. Yelp gives you social reviews of everything a city has to offer. From restaurants, nightclubs, entertainment and more, Yelp has a review on it all!.
USA Rest Stops– iOS/ Android -This app does exactly what it says. It shows you all the nearby rest areas and welcome centers. It’s great for finding good pit stops for snacks and stretches on long and draining drives.
Weather– iOS/ Android -Many people already have a weather app on their phone. If not, it’s a great tool to see what the weather will be like when you get to your destination. Also, probably a good app to use when you’re home too.
