7 Best RV Parks and Campgrounds in the Pigeon Forge Area

Do you love hitting the open road with your RV or trading stories around a campfire? When you visit the Pigeon Forge area, you have so many options for RV parks and campgrounds that you probably have trouble deciding which park is right for you. That’s why we’ve made up this list of the 7 best RV Parks and campgrounds in the Pigeon Forge area. This list isn’t in any particular order, except alphabetical, and each park will be analyzed based on location, amenities, and special perks.


Cove Creek RV Resort

Location: 3293 Wears Valley Road, Sevierville, TN 37862.

Only about a 15-minute drive from Pigeon Forge, this scenic RV resort is found in Wears Valley, a little southwest of Pigeon Forge. The resort is also only minutes away from Townsend and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as well.

The first thing you’ll notice about the park is the view, with a picture-perfect sight line of Cove Mountain in the distance. The park is a 5-star luxury RV resort complete with several amenities, including a swimming pool, bath house and laundry, clubhouse with a conference room, Wi-Fi, and cable TV. There’s also a playground for the kids, a premier site with a fireplace and a pergola, and a country store complete with supplies and movie rentals. The park is completely pet friendly, with doggie waste stations throughout as well.

Near the back left of the park (as you’re coming in) you’ll find a fully stocked catch-and-release fishing pond. In the back of the park there is a covered bridge that leads to the park’s tent camping sites. Cove Creek, the namesake of the resort, runs along the southern edge of the park. The owners are happy to welcome big rigs, and have the facilities to back it up.


 Foothills RV Park & Cabins

Location: 4235 Huskey Street, Pigeon Forge, TN, 37863.

This awesome park has been family owned and operated for more than twenty years. Located just off the Parkway at Traffic Light #10, Foothills RV Park and Cabins is a perfect place for campers looking to stay close to Pigeon Forge attractions and shopping.

The park has plenty of amenities for the family, including a heated outdoor swimming pool, a laundry room, and a bathhouse. A trolley stop is found directly on site, so visitors can park and ride wherever they desire. The site offers 37 full hookups with 30/50 amps; visitors can also enjoy cable TV and free Wi-Fi. Decks overlooking mountain views are found on-site as well, complete with picnic tables for a family meal.

The park offers a wide range of different cabin rentals, including a-frame cabins, log cabins, and camping cabins. The cabins each have unique offerings, but all feature heat and air condition, color cable TVs, charcoal grills, and picnic tables.


 KOA Holiday – Pigeon Forge

Location: 3122 Veterans Blvd., Pigeon Forge, TN, 37863

2016 is a special year for KOA Pigeon Forge, as its celebrating its 50th anniversary! There’s a reason this campground has been around as long as it has, and its location, amenities, and facilities don’t leave much to be desired.

Located right off the Parkway on Dollywood Lane, this campsite is under five minutes from the Island, Dollywood, and all the shopping and amusements you could want. There’s also a walking trail that takes you to Patriot Park, adjacent to the Old Mill.

Campers will find that they can enjoy a wide range of activities without ever having to leave the campground. Unlike many campgrounds, KOA has planned activities for kids such as games, movies on their outdoor cinema, crafting, and more. You’ll find tons of unique amenities at the park, such as a disc golf course, rent-able bicycles, the fun trail, a gem mine, a gaga pit (a kind of modern dodgeball), horseshoes, cornhole, tetherball, a zero entry wading pool, a regular swimming pool, a hot tub, the jumping pillow, and an on-site café!


Pigeon River Campground

Location: 3375 Hartford Rd., Hartford TN 37753

If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city living and to connect with nature, then Pigeon River Campground might be the right place for you. Located in Hartford, TN, the campsite is about 45 minutes away from Pigeon Forge. But, the location puts you right in the heart of outdoor adventure in the Smokies.

The campground offers campsites for tents as well as camping cabins and RV campsites. A river runs along the back end of the campsite, and visitors can enjoy fishing along the river or take advantage of the on-site put-in and take-out for private boaters and fishermen. The site also includes laundry facilities, a general store, and a 4 ft. swimming pool.

When you stay here, you’re right next to outdoor action, having easy access to whitewater rafting, ziplines, and horseback riding; in addition, the campsite offers free Wi-Fi, horseshoes, and a sand volleyball court. The campground sits at the intersection of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Cherokee National Forest, and the Pisgah National Forest.


 Riverside RV Park and Resort

Location: 4280 Boyds Creek Highway, Sevierville, TN 37876

Sitting at a curving bend of the West Prong Little Pigeon River, Riverside RV Park & Resort is found in Sevierville about one minute away from Smoky Mountain Knifeworks. This park offers you a great location that’s not too far from attractions, but far enough to feel like you’ve escaped the bustling city.

The resort has a wide range of lodging options, with close to 300 level campsites to accommodate its visitors. They also offer great cabin rentals along the river, including two honeymoon cabins complete with king size beds, Jacuzzis, and fireplaces. Amenities you’ll find on-site include a swimming pool, playground, and fishing along the river that surrounds the park.

One unique aspect about this campsite is its Christian ministry. Every Sunday you’ll find a morning service at the park’s outdoor pavilion. Twice a year the ministry takes a mission trip to Honduras, and the rest of the year the ministry works in the local community.


Smoky Mountain Premier RV Resorts

Location: 4874 Hooper Highway, Cosby, TN 37722

Getting away from city life is easy at this RV Resort, located only 20 minutes away from Gatlinburg, in Cosby, TN. This campground is specifically designed for large rigs, with sites easily fitting the largest of RVs, but is quaint enough to make the smallest travel trailers feel at home. This resort is only two years old, but it’s already made its mark on the RV scene and is constantly improving the site.

The RV park is nicely wooded, giving you the feeling of really escaping civilization. The resort features mostly gravel sites, with two paved campsites for RVs. All of the sites are full hook up at this park, which offers a range of amenities such as a swimming pool, playground, disc golf, a horseshoe area, as well as gated access and security cameras for the peace of mind of its visitors.

Directly behind the site is a gravel road that campers can cross to directly enter the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Two trails are within a five-minute walk from your RV, leading to a hidden creek and a popular Smoky Mountain trail-head.  Up the Creek RV Camp

Location: 1919 Little Valley Rd. Pigeon Forge, TN 37876

Just off of Wears Valley Rd. and only 15 minutes from downtown Pigeon Forge, Up the Creek RV Camp offers a serene spot for RV lovers to enjoy the outdoors. The site is surrounded by two mountain creeks (thus earning the camp its name) and is full of awesome hardwoods.

Sites are distanced from each other, which does a great job of creating a sense of seclusion and privacy. All of the campers can enjoy the natural areas along the river, taking walks with their dogs, going fishing, or just taking a dip in the summer.

Besides the beautiful scenery and the close proximity to Pigeon Forge, visitors with pets can enjoy the gated dog park as well as an on-site trolley stop to help them get around in the area.
