No matter where you find yourself in the Great Smoky Mountains, you can be sure to be surrounded by 360 degrees of scenic views. And if you’re lucky to be here in the fall, then you’ve hit the jackpot! You can guarantee to see bright reds, yellows, oranges, golds, and browns covering the mountains. Although you’re sure to see these magnificent colors from anywhere, we’ve picked a few places that will give you the photo worthy backdrop you’ve always wanted! Here are our favorite places to see the fall colors this season…

  1. Cades Cove

Cades Cove is one of the most visited areas in the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Not only are you surrounded by the stunning colorful mountains, but also some of the unique historical buildings, churches, and cemeteries in the region. The history available throughout Cades Cove is incredible along with the many trails it holds. Try Abrams Falls or Laurel Falls for more opportunities to see the fall colors and other scenery like waterfalls and wildlife!

  1. Clingman’s Dome

See the beauty of the mountains from the highest point, Clingmans Dome! Standing at 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome offers views for over 100 miles! After driving to Clingmans Dome road from Newfound Gap, you can take a short hike up to the observation tower.

  1. Charlie’s Bunion

This 8- mile roundtrip hike is one to add to your list! Climb 6,222 feet up and through the Smoky Mountains with plenty of stops along the way. Outlooks, alpine forests, and all of the flora and fauna you can think of! The trail, Charlie’s Bunion, was named in 1929 for Charlie Conner’s bunion on his foot, he saw one day when hiking!

  1. The Island

See the colors while you’re in the heart of Pigeon Forge! Amongst all the action packed attractions and fun, head over to The Island. You can take a trip on the Ferris Wheel to see stunning 360 degree views of the Smoky Mountains.

  1. Chimney Tops

As one of the most visited trails in the smokies, you can see so much within this one trail. Although the hike is only 2 miles (4 miles round trip), you are sure to see streams, large rocks, and beautiful views all along the way!

  1. Andrew’s Bald

The Great Smoky Mountain views are a family favorite with this trail! The trail was also renovated back in 2008, making it much easier on the knees and ankles for those wanting an easier trail. While on this hike you can see open meadows, views of Fontana Lake, and spruce fir forests!
