Summer in the Smoky Mountains is a beautiful time to explore the area and what it has to offer. The trees are lush and green which makes the views of the Smokies spectacular. There are many activities and events going on that every visitor should take full advantage of. If your looking for fresh fruits, vegetables and local crafts then be sure to check out the Gatlinburg Farmers Market which runs from May 11-October 12. Located at the Alamo Steakhouse parking lot, the Farmers Market allows both locals and visitors to interact with local farmers and craftsman and take away a piece of Gatlinburg. Another popular event is the Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair which runs from July 19th-28th at the Convention Center. Craftsman from all over will be demonstrating their skills, answer questions and selling their art. There will be live Country and Bluegrass music throughout the week. A must when in Gatlinburg is to attend the Fourth of July Midnight Parade. This year marks the 38th Annual parade with Women Veterans and U.S. Heros being honored for their service. The 572nd Airforce band along with each branch of military will be honored at this years parade too. This event is great for the whole family.
The city of Pigeon Forge has many events planned throughout the summer season. Dollywoods annual Kids Fest runs from June 22-July 29. Kids Fest is perfect for families with young children with fun entertainment to keep young children entertained. There are many options to choose from such as a Spongebob ride and Clifford the Big Red Dog Stage Show. Fourth of July in Pigeon Forge is an exciting time with a lot of activities for the whole family. The most popular is the Patriot Festival at Patriot Park. This year will be the 23rd Annual celebration with a free kids carnival and entertainment. The headliner for this year will be Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers. The festival will end with a spectacular fireworks display. If you enjoy classic car shows then Pigeon Forge is the place to be this summer. The Grand Spring, Shades of Past and Southern Nationals Association Camero & Nova Nationals will be taking place this season. Pigeon Forge hosts more auto-events than any others place in the Appalachian region.
Sevierville hosts their own events throughout the summer season. If you are a fan of Anime then you must attend the Anime Southeast Convention July 12th-14th at the Sevierville Convention Center. There will be artists panels, dealer booths and special guests to answer questions and discuss their work. Another event is the Parker’s Greatest Knife Show which is the top antique show in the country for collectors. There will be all types of knifes on display and the opportunity to learn about the history of many of the antiques. Be sure to attend the knife show June 13th-15th at the Sevierville Events Center. Sevierville will also play host to multiple car shows starting in June with June Jam Cruise-In, Hot Nights, Cool Cars Cruise – In and ending the summer season with Back to School Cruise.
